Striving for “skinny” can lead to unhealthy habits
While there are those who are naturally thin, the fact is, there are many of us who don’t have the body type that will allow for a thin frame. Some of us may have a naturally muscular build or carry more weight in certain parts of our body than others.
Striving to achieve a build that may not be in your genetic make-up can lead to a dangerous obsession with dieting as well as spark the development of unhealthy habits. It can also lead to strong feelings about falling short of your goal which can affect the way you approach a healthy way of altering your physique.
Rather than setting a goal of being “skinny”, we encourage goals of being fit, healthy, and happy. You’d be surprised by how things begin to fall into place when you work towards and achieve these goals.
Being fit means you’re giving your body the food it needs
Restricting calories, forgoing carbs and cutting out entire food groups in an attempt to achieve a more slender frame are, unfortunately, measures that are often times taken. What some may not know is engaging in these actions denies your body of the nutrients it needs and craves, leading to health issues that can include extreme fatigue, a weakened immune system, and even hair loss.
